Busy day yesterday. Couldn’t get my little old dog into the vet yesterday but we have an appointment this afternoon. So we decided to head to Fort Columbia yesterday for a photo shoot.
I got new photos and raw video that I need to edit and upload so I should be able to post it in my blog in the next few days.
I needed some garlic from the store so on the way back we pulled into Sid’s grocery in Long Beach. I got it into my mind that I was going to go into the store and pick out my own garlic so I asked Mary where in the store the produce section was and she told me it was up front. It’s been a few years since I’ve been in a grocery store. Pretty much what I remember. (Smile) Not only did I pick out some garlic but I also picked out a pineapple and we grabbed some bananas and a couple of trash rags as well. I buy things on line all the time but I haven’t run a debit card in a real live store in some time so Mary handed me her debit card and I ran it through the machine to pay for the purchase. I even carried the groceries out and stuck them into the back of the car. I was hurtin for certain by the time I got sat down again but I was also very pleased with myself.
Grocery Receipt
Garlic $.50 (Corrected typo. Thank you Anastazia)
Pineapple $4.99
Bananas $1.35
I must have been on a roll because after we got home I decided I wanted to see if I could fit behind the steering wheel of the car. My last attempt, May 7th, I simply could not maneuver my body behind the steering wheel of the car. This time however, I squeezed in and closed the door. I was able to turn the steering wheel but it was still up against my body so I think I’m going to wait a few more weeks before I take her out on the road.
To follow up on my post from yesterday, I attempted some (self)directed imagery and found myself distracted so now I think I’m going to try to incorporate some positive visualization into a writing exercise. For a format, I think I’ll write as if I’m having a conversation with someone in the future and I’m sharing how effortless it is for me to make healthy food choices in various situations. I’m not sure if I’m going to share any of this or if so, where I’d share it.
So today I’m watering plants, making smoothies, taking the dog to the vet, editing and uploading video, and doing writing exercises. I’m going to try not to be a total witch as I’m feeling really irritable this morning. Hormones run amuck amuck amuck. Until tomorrow, I’ll leave you with the usual.

Val, I hope your pup is okay. Think I hate going to the vet more than my dog does! I'm going to see Victoria Boutenko on Saturday. She's speaking up at Bastyr University. It will be my first official raw food event. Anything you want me to ask her on your behalf?
Hi Jennifer,
How exciting for you. One of these days I’m going to go see her in person too. The only thing I really want to know is the projected release date of her next book, “Green Smoothie Revolution”. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!!!

How exciting! I know going to the store is mundane for most people, but if you haven't been in sometime, it had to be so rewarding!
Rooting for you, as always!

WOW, girl, you eat a LOT of garlic!!! $50 worth???!!! Not sure I'll be coming over to visit & share a smoothie anytime soon! Lol!
It's so good to hear about your day, shopping is definately something I miss being able to do easily, I just don't go without Hannah there to help, but I'm looking forward to it changing...I hope soon you can enjoy a leisurely walk through the store at a comfortable pace, taking however long you want to!
& wow, driving again! That's goona be wonderful! It's on my list, too~
Hope all went well at the vets, & that your little cutie-pie is fine, & whatever the problem is is treatable!

Stopping by your blog again today, as I thought of you a bit this weekend as I completed a four day juice fast. Tried the mango mixed with greens, and YUM-O!
I'm curious if drinking the green smoothies has helped you with any thyroid considerations. I had mine tested recently, and although my 'girly' hormones (PCOS) are back on track following 4 years of high raw, my thyroid has recently been under fire. I've read lots of very positive things about the green juices, so I'm thinking I might try to make sure I'm doing more of this in my regime.
By the way, I shared your story with someone very dear to me, and they were blown away with what you have achieved. I wish I could afford to give a copy of the Boutenkos book to everyone I know who is dealing with health issues!
Thank you for the inspiration!
Best,
Cassy
yay on you ! way to go on the milestones back in the store an the car ! :)
hope yer pups ok . one of those cruel twists of fate .. mans best friend doesnt live as long as we do ..its always sad to let go of a friend
.. ive lost many 4 legged ones myself
I was just wondering... you say you have acid reflux but it is improving, correct? According to Victoria Boutenko green smoothies can correct stomach acid problems over time, correct? All those onions and garlic and jalapeno peppers you always put in those savory smoothies would probably do a number on me... have you tried eating just a simple sweet green smoothie with only maybe 4 or 5 ingredients lately to see if your acid reflux symptoms subside?
Just a thought.
Keep on keepin on!
=)

You are no longer taking baby steps, you are leaping around. fabulous.
I raise another green smoothie to you and am shouting 'Omedeto' - congratulations in japanese

RVM, Jgunn, Em,
Thanks for stopping by and for the encouragement.
Anastazia,
Thanks for catching the typo. I moved the decimal point. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Cassy,
I was on thyroid medication for a while and stopped taking it without consulting a doctor. Not wise I’m sure. I have no idea what shape my thyroid function is in. It would not surprise me to find out I still have thyroid issues, or various undiagnosed hormone/girly conditions. But even if I was properly diagnosed I’m not willing to take any prescribed medication so there doesn’t seem much point in getting diagnosed. Honestly, I have developed an unreasonable attitude toward doctors. Don’t want nothin to do with’em.
Thanks for taking the time to leave me a note. I also wish I could afford to send copies of “Green For Life” to nutritionists in every hospital, nursing home, and grade school on the planet.
Rachel,
The timing of your question is good since I made smoothies without onions/garlic/jalapeno yesterday and still experienced my usual acid reflux. I do think it’s greatly improved. I used to eat 3-4 Rolaids at a time, every 20 minutes or so, all day long. I’d buy 2 or 3 of those huge Costco jars at a time. I never had them out of arms reach. Now it mostly bothers me at night. In the past I have put the head of my bed on blocks so that I was sleeping at an angle. I could try that again but hate that feeling that I’m always sliding down hill…and I don’t sleep alone. I am hopeful that it will eventually go away forever, but who knows, I may decided to play around with food combinations in the future to see if I can speed the process up. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to write a comment on my blog.
Take care everyone.
