Experiment Ending

Hi all,
I’m planning to wrap up the green smoothie experiment. I’m feeling better and getting into the store again and it’s the middle of summer and I’m really wanting to eat some unblended fruit. In particular I’ve been obsessing about the fact that the pears will be in next month and I won’t be eating any. I ate 2 cases of organic pears last year in September & October. I’ve been going back and forth with myself for the past week. Part of me arguing that I shouldn’t mess with success. Another part of me saying I should be able to eat some watermelon or a bowl of fresh peaches if I want to.

So now that I’ve made the decision it’s just a question of how and when. The how isn’t that hard, I’ll just start to add a plate of fresh fruit for dinner. The when is a little trickier. I’d like to stop on a nice round number so when I think back on it I’m not thinking I lived on green smoothies for a little more then twenty four weeks or just shy of six months. I’d like it to be exactly twenty five weeks which it will be on Monday, or exactly six months which it will be on September 5th. I’ll give the date some more thought.

Since the experiment was about living on green smoothies exclusively, I think I’ll be wrapping up this blog as well. I’ll leave it up for a while for people to look at. I may start up another blog about my continued journey eating a raw food diet (which will still contain lots of green smoothies). But I’m not real sure about that. I’ve not felt like blogging much or hanging out on the internet in recent weeks. But that’s happened to me before where I’ll just get burnt out on the internet for a few months and then I’d go back to it again visiting all my old stomping grounds. We’ll see. I’ll be doing at least one or two more entries.

In other news, the garage sale was a huge success. We were going to go Monday through Friday of this week and we chose this week because there is a huge kite festival on the beaches here so we knew there would be lots of city folks with city money in town. Sure enough, in just two days they bought more then 75% of what we had and we made over $500.00. The festival wraps up next weekend and there will be even more people coming into town so we decided shut it down for the week and then open for ½ a day on Saturday to see if we can’t get rid of the last few bits and pieces. Today we’re off to the city ourselves to spend some of that city money.

I’ll wrap this up with some stats.

Statistics:
Height: 5 foot, 11 inches. (180 centimeters)
Weight loss since March 1 2007: 124.4 pounds (56.43 kilograms)
Weight today: 403.8 pounds (183.16 kilograms)
Weight Last Wednesday: 408.2 pounds (185.16 kilograms)
Weight March 5th 2007: 515.6 pounds (233.87 kilograms)
Weight March 1st 2007: 528.2 pounds. (239.59 kilograms)

Wow, Valerie, congratulations! You have done spectacularly well, and I think it's terrific that you're taking this next step. I'm a "round number" gal myself, so I'd go for the six months if it were me, but 25 weeks is absolutely amazing, too!

I've been away for a few weeks, so I also just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I'm glad that it sounds like you guys are doing well. I hope your other blogs will continue, if only for an update every few months or so. I'd love to be able to congratulate you when you reach your goal. Take care!

Congratulations! I'm not surprised that you are less into blogging lately. Now you can do stuff instead of just writing about stuff. I hope you keep us updated from time to time. I am really looking forward to your next milestone of getting under 400. Anyway, congratulations!

Do you feel up to doing a final video, to document your results at the end of the Green Smoothie Experimnent? I would like to see it. And you might enjoy comparing it to your first video. I know it will be hard to do without your co-star. Thanks for sharing your experiment with us. Congratulations on your progress.

Congratulations on your success. 6 months on green smoothies alone, and 124.4 lbs. lost is astonishing. You have proven that it can be done for quite a long time. I certainly hope you leave this blog up for others who are looking for something healthy that works, and works quickly. This blog has probably already helped people, and can continue to inspire even more.

Go with God.

And stay raw, baby!

Congratulations on your success! Wow, I'm going to miss this blog. I've read one other blog regularly - ever - so I'll miss it. Good luck to you and the rest of your journey. Enjoy the bounty of raw food. I have gone short stretches living on green smoothies and fruit. I'm at my best eating that combination. Good things are going to happen for you:)

Dear Valerie,
This is my first time posting a comment, but I have enjoyed reading your blog. I appreciate your candor and congratulate you on your success. I do no generally follow blogs, but I found you through Pear magazine and have been really inspired. I find myself sad that your blog is ending only for selfish reasons... I just love reading about your journey and your success. I guess I just want to say I wish you the best of health and happiness on your journey forward. Thank you for sharing and thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Valerie,

I think that this is a big step just because of the "loss of structure," but you seem so ready.

I hope you keep blogging about your journey. I think you have the power to inspire so many people, as you have been doing for the past 6 months. But, having a "real" life for yourself is more important than anything else.

All the best to you!

Marjorie

Oh, my goodness! I just discovered your blog today, as I googled "green smoothie" and came across it that way. I'm trying to do more fat-free vegan eating, and I can never seem to get enough green vegetables. Green smoothies seem like the answer.

I'm looking forward to learning from your blog, so I hope you'll leave it up so that folks can gain a little inspiration from you. Losing 124.4 pounds is amazing!! You go, girl!

i will miss your blogging dearly ! but i agree your real life is more important at the moment and maybe when you settle back in you can update us on whats going on :) i go through the same internet exhaustion and find myself at times just shutting it off for awhile (weeks , months, one time for a year an half lol)

i wonder what your contingency plan is for incorperating foods back into your diet .. if you find your weight going back up are you going to go 50/50 or ??

good luck sweetheart with whatever you choose .. you and your partner are lovely ladies and i wish you the best in everything :)

you are in my prayers and hopes always !

Valerie,
So glad to read about the success of the weekend sale. It makes for another step toward the geographical transformation.

Six months already! Time and pounds have been released and surely more discoveries, revelations await.

You inspire many of us and, I believe that gift will continue giving.

Hugs,
Jean

Hi Valerie - I would like to second Gin's request to please leave your blog up as a resource and inspiration.

Your blog has been a valuable source of information for myself and I have told others about it.

After your break if you decide to come back to blogging in a new location you could always leave a link here so those of us who enjoy your blog can read your new one as well.

I hope you leave it up. You are such an inspiration to me. And I hope you blog your further rawness, even if it's somewhere else! Just post a link here to the new spot!

I also think this information needs to be out here. That it doesn't take pills or surgery. That we can get well. (c:
